Test Description
Antiphospholipid Syndrome Panel

APS, Cardiolipin, Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1

Test ID
General Information

Patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) have an increased risk for stroke, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and/or recurrent miscarriages. The detection of cardiolipin and beta-2 glycoprotein 1 antibodies are useful serological markers for APS. Assay results should be used in conjunction with clinical findings and other serological tests.

Specimen Type

Alternate Specimen Type

Plasma (Li-Heparin, EDTA, or Citrate)

Specimen Requirements

Additional Processing Details

Caution: Serum/plasma samples are not to be repeatedly frozen and thawed, since this can cause analyte deterioration. They are to be thawed only once.

Store at 22˚C: 8 hrs
Store at 2-8˚C: 1 week
If assays are not completed within 1 week or the specimen is to be stored beyond 1 week, the serum/plasma should be frozen at or below -20˚C.
